Timing

After speaking with Nathan Adams and Jon Hogg of Red Page Ministries, it looks as though it would be more beneficial all around if I was to postpone my trip until the Fall.

In other news, I will be speaking at the Mackenzie Trail Cowboy Church in Stamford this Sunday about the trip and what Red Page is doing in Romania.  Cowboy Heritage Church in Clyde has tentatively scheduled me to speak the following Wednesday.

Not so Fast, but Soon!

So it appears that I will not be leaving on the 29th of January.

BUT!!!

The total of pledges and funds received so far comes to $3600!

Please keep praying for support.  Also, Red Page is taking a group this weekend to Romania for a disciple now.  Please keep them in your prayers that they might have a safe trip and a successful weekend teaching youth about Jesus Christ.

Red Page Ministries

From October 4, 2010 to November 24, 2010, I lived and worked with Bob Kornegay of Servants Hearts Ministries in Guatemala.  It was a great experience and I met many wonderful people.  God is doing a lot of wonderful things in Guatemala.

I have now been offered a six month internship through Red Page Ministries.  Here is a little information about that:

In June of 2010, Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene took a group of forty-three people to Romania. I had the privilege of being part of this group. Our group was split into three teams. One team began construction on a community center in the village of Susani. This community center, called House of Joy, will serve twenty-five of the surrounding villages. The purpose of House of Joy is to provide a center for Red Page to "focus on social welfare, education, evangelism and rural development for the region surrounding Susani, an area that includes approximately 25 villages and over 2,000 families."

The other two teams did Vacation Bible School; one for the village and one for the children at an orphanage in the nearby town of Gavojdia. Every morning, half of us from the orphanage team also went to a private Baptist school in the town of Lugoj to do Vacation Bible School with the children in the school.

While in Romania, I fell in love with the people I met. Ten years ago I felt called to the ministry of Jesus Christ. Early on I believed my purpose was to spread the Gospel and show His love to the people of foreign lands. He is now making available to me the opportunity to fulfill that purpose.

Our group was led by two missionaries, Jon Hogg and Todd Long, who each have been missionaries in Romania. While they were in Romania, Jon and Todd met Ovidiu Patrick, the pastor of the Baptist church in Susani. Jon, Todd and Ovidiu have started a new ministry in Romania called Red Page Ministries. As stated on the Red Page website, redpageministries.org, “The mission of Red Page Ministries is to break the cycle of poverty in rural Romania.” I will be joining Red Page for about six months. While working with them, I will be helping them to fulfill their mission by:
  • Developing curriculum for VBS and/or Disciple Now.
  • Monitoring and assisting with the construction of the House of Joy community center.
  • Developing, implementing, maintaining and evaluating Red Page programs.
  • Assisting in evaluating families in the area in which Red Page will be serving.
  • Assisting with youth ministries in Susani and other areas where Red Page will be serving
  • Developing and implementing a strategy for mentoring targeted future leaders
  • Establishing and developing relationships with the children and leadership at the orphanage in Gavojdia.

I must either have funds on on hand or pledges of support to cover my expenses while I am there.  The current plan is that I leave for Romania with a group on January 29.  If support does not come through in time for me to purchase a ticket for this date then we will consider another date of departure.  Your support through prayer would be most coveted.  Also, if you might be interested in providing financial support, you can contact me at Tim_Gouge@hotmail.com.
